Educational Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is to provide a comprehensive update and review on current issues and contemporary topics in internal medicine. Emphasis will be placed on the recent advances made in the clinical management of the most common disorders seen in internal medicine practice.
Educational Objectives:

After attending this course, participants should be able to:

- Discuss the importance of technology in the practice of medicine.

Describe the necessary strategies for implementation of technology into ones practice.

iscuss best practices in the management of Endocrine Emergencies.

Identify the most effective methods to manage Hyperlipidemia.

Describe the various types of technologies available to the physician in practice.

Demonstrate the hands-on use of specific methods of automation.

Recognize the various options available in the evaluation and management of Obesity.

Describe current practices in controlling and managing Noscomial Infections.

Recognize the risk factors for GI bleeds associated with the use of Anti-Inflammatory Agents.

Recognize the prevalence of antibiotic resistance in Primary Care.

Describe the methods used to screen for colon Cancer.
-
Identify new and emerging trends on GERD, NERDs, Barrett's and Endoscopic Therapeutic Options.
-
Discuss best practices in managing Septic Shock.
-
Describe the current approaches to the medical management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
-
Identify the most current treatment of HIV.

Target Audience:
This course is designed for internists, other primary care physicians and those interested in internal medicine.
Educational Format:
The format for this course consists of 45-minute lectures, each followed by a 15-minute question and answer period. The sessions are designed to facilitate exchange of information and dialogue between presenting faculty and participants. Sessions are presented Wednesday through Friday in the morning.
Other Items:
Each participant will receive a course syllabus. Certificates of credit will be distributed upon completion of the course.
