CME ORGANIZATION
MISSION STATEMENT
|
| Purpose:
The purpose of the USCSOM-PHR CME Organization is to develop,
implement, manage, evaluate and improve high quality educational
activities that enhance physicians' core competencies* and promote
the values of medicine's humane tradition |
| Content
Areas: The CME Program will determine content based on: |
A.
Documented need as demonstrated by sources such as:
· Medical outcomes;
· Epidemiological data;
· Social demographic data;
· Scientific and specialty society literature;
· Faculty Development;
· Activity evaluation data;
· Needs assessment survey data. |
B.
Target audience needs such as:
· Professional competency;
· Regulatory and licensure requirements;
· Management and leadership;
· Professionalism;
· Social responsibility. |

Target Audience:
To achieve its goals the CME Program will address its activities
in order of priority to support:
· Practicing physicians on the faculty of the USC School
of Medicine and/or the active medical staff at Palmetto Health
Richland;
· Alumni of the USCSOM and of the residency and fellowship
programs of
Palmetto Health Richland;
· Physicians who practice within South Carolina;
· Other physicians.

| Type
of Activities Provided: All CME activities will be conducted
according to the principles and best practices of adult education.
Directly and jointly sponsored activities will include, but
are not limited to symposia, conferences, seminars, workshops,
regularly scheduled conferences such as grand rounds, and enduring
materials. Educational design will utilize learning modalities
that are appropriate and consistent with the needs of participants
and the objectives to be achieved. |
Expected
Results:
The expected
results of the CME Program are that physicians:
· Become more knowledgeable;
· Perceive that they are more knowledgeable;
· Perceive that they are more effective in carrying out
their professional responsibilities. |
Physicians
view the Office of CME and Faculty Development as:
· Responsive to their needs;
· Customer friendly;
· Effectively providing CME to meet those needs. |

Statement
The University
of South Carolina School of Medicine-Palmetto Health Richland
Continuing Medical Education Organization is accredited by the
accreditation council for Continuing Medical Education to Provide
Continuing Medical Education for physicians. |

| The
University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB), as the center
for research, scholarship, and public service for the University
of South Carolina system in the Southeast coastal region of

courses at Sea Pines. This institution was founded in 1795 as
Beaufort College and has served for over 200 years with an enduring
